ICB takes the “challenge” at the Ruban Rose

Several ICB members participated in the Challenge du Ruban Rose on the quays of Bordeaux this weekend: the walk/run between Bordeaux Center’s two bridges takes place every year in order to call attention to early detection of breast cancer. A great cause that the ICB supports each time!...

A Walk with the ICB

The Indian summer held out for our Genial Ramblers monthly walking group’s hike through the “Abécédaire” on the dunes in Cap Ferret this month : sunshine and smiles all around! And the best part? Fresh oysters in a nearby fishing village made the big reward at the end of the...

An outstanding ICB “Plat du jour” lunch meeting!

The ICB meets for lunch once a month at our “Plat du jour” activity, where we try new Bordeaux restaurants and occasionally re-visit some of the very best places we’ve already been to. October’s restaurant was outstanding : Lauza, in the rue du Hâ near the Musée d’Aquitaine. We highly recommend this shining example of the new “bistonome”scene in Bordeaux and the Gault et Millau guide agreed with us since our visit by naming Lauza chef Romain Schlumberger one of only three “Young Talents” in the city! We’ll be back to this one for...

ICB “Uncorked!” a few bottles of Pinot Noir

The ICB wine group, “Uncorked!” got serious this week with the Pinot Noir grape at a tasting of several “mono-cépages” from all over the world. The choices were perfectly compiled and presented by our fearless leader during an evening of delightful “wine talk” and delicious...

Mascaret Madness with the ICB

We’re making this an ICB date every year: the famous MASCARET wave passing the port in Saint Pardon! Luck was with us again this year for a beautiful late summer’s evening of viewing this local and world-famous phenomenon… over a chilled glass of wine, of course – after all, this is...

Kayaking la Leyre river with the ICB

Every summer, the ICB plans a new kayak adventure in the region of Bordeaux. This year, we chose the Leyre River, from the town of Mios to the Bassin d’Arcachon at la Teich. The weather was perfect, the trip was just enough of a challenge to keep us on our toes and the company was fabulous and fun ! It was a GREAT day...

ICB celebrates la Fête nationale on the riverside

A beautiful clear summer’s night found the ICB at the Guinguette du Phare in Lestiac for a traditional celebration on the banks of the Garonne for what we anglophones refer to as “Bastille Day” ! A little food, a little music and a table full of good friends made for a perfect...
